Turkish Airlines in talks with Boeing (NYSE:BA) and European rival Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF) (OTCPK:EADSY) about buying 235 planes as part of a plans to expand its fleet, the carrier’s chairman, Ahmet Bolat, said on Monday.
The airline last year said it wanted to expand its fleet by about 600 planes over 10 years. In December, Turkish Airlines said it had ordered 355 planes from Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF) (OTCPK:EADSY).
"We are negotiating with both Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF) (OTCPK:EADSY) and Boeing (BA) for the remaining 235 planes," Bolat said at an event in Istanbul, according to a Reuters report.
Boeing (BA) is working to overcome concerns about product safety after a new 737 Max 9 lost a metal panel shortly after takeoff on January 5.
