Comparing Valuations of Yahoo vs. Google [view article]
"Like MSFT, it's good at generating cash from its one hit but does nothing else useful or interesting" - bearfundThis has to be one of the most worthless pieces of commentary I have read in my entire life. Bearfund, I'm impressed that you're even able to type words given your tiny intellectual bandwith. I guess you can't achieve if you don't try. May 16 07:06 PM
Comparing Valuations of Yahoo vs. Google [view article]
Also need to factor in that Jerry Yang is an idiot. That should lop off at least $10 off the current share price unless you're factoring in his immediate removal. Oh and did you forget to account for the fact that youtube might be valued at 25-50B by the end of this year if it were a standalone company? That's quite a bit more than the 1.65B that Google paid for the company. How does that factor in to Google's valuation? May 15 10:20 PMOil at $127, Buy Sunpower [view article]
Suntech over Sunpower all day long. And then tomorrow too. May 15 10:03 PMSolarfun Power Short Interest Balloons [view article]
There's a tremendous amount of short interest even in less speculative solar names like Suntech Power (STP). Can anyone get a breakdown of what percentage of the solar shorts (no pun) are institutional vs. retail for some of these stocks? May 15 12:58 AMOptions Trader: Wednesday Outlook [view article]
The bowtie says it all. The FSLR financial wizardry doesn't surprise me either as it comes from a man who once called ISRG an inexpensive stock at $300 per share. May 15 12:50 AMIs Google Its Own Worst Enemy? [view article]
First they malign Google because they're too free-spirited. Now, you malign them because they're not free-spirited enough? What gives, amigo? May 13 05:28 PMTake Advantage of Crazy, Paranoid Mr. Market [view article]
There are quite a few strong opportunies amongst the growing legion of NYSE traded Chinese stocks. These stocks did not receive nearly as much hot money as the A share market and some sectors, like online multiplayer games, are trading like value stocks even though they have 70% operating margins, half of their market cap in cash with no debt, 100% growth rates, and forward PEs of under 20. The answer is that Google will. The foundation of Google's business is innovation. All of their business processes and the core values are directed towards adapting to change and innovating in the face of change. I think the author hit it right on the head: are all these discussions about Microsoft and Yahoo a waste of time? I think so. May 07 06:13 PMTele Norte Primed for a Major Breakout [view article]
What percentage of their revenue comes from mobile vs fixed line? Where do you see growth coming from in the next 5 years? What are the advantages over VIV? I'm not convinced but I've never followed this issue and I'm not familiar with their competitive advantages (if any). May 07 05:58 PMIs This the Moment of Truth? [view article]
Very good point. I think part of this pyschology is really built on the encouragement of people like the CNBC folks whose business depends on you and I thinking that something important is happening at every moment. May 06 07:48 PMCramer's Four Horsemen Back in the Saddle [view article]
Cramer gets it right 49% of the time so he's better than most mutual fund managers. May 06 01:56 PMChina Stocks: April Was Kind [view article]
Lord Kraken, what about all the stocks trading on the NYSE? They're not trading at a 40/50 PE. In fact some of the NYSE traded multiplayer online game companies like GA and PWRD, have half of their market capitalization in cash, 60-80% operating margins, growth rates over 100%, and trade at forward PEs under 20. You're clearly only focusing on the stocks that local Chinese can buy. As an American, you can buy the cream of the crop at very reasonable valuations. May 06 01:01 PM
