Genentech’s New ADC Platform Has Much Potential, but Is Yet to Be Tested on Humans [view article]
They might want to have PFS data from the 100 patient phase II trial before committing more resources. In the meantime, they are making all the necessary arrangements for a pivotal study. The phase II study in Tykerb relapsed patients can be amended into a pivotal trial so the lack of announcement does not delay the commercialization of T-DM1. Reply

ohad.. any reasons you can think of as to why dna is delaying in announcing a pivotal trial. Is it FDA related? surely the data confirms that tras-dm1 works far better than herceptin unconjugated, and the need to get new drugs deeper into clinical trials and approved for this patient pop/MBC. the recent data for the combo of tykerb/xeloda is not overwhelming. surely this appears to be a slam dunk to enter a pivotal trial sooner than later . Excelent article, however proper analysis of the ADC space must include the work currently being done at MITI. The MITI data is spectacular at 60 micrograms per kilogram and the toxicity is very low.

I've owned IMGN, SGEN and currently own MEDX (a possible future player in this space). None have the promise of MITI if the data holds up.

MITI's bispecific (to T cells) data is so impressive, it is either a breakthrough or a fraud.

    disclosure: long MITI

ASCO: Whose Presentations Look the Most Promising? [view article]
So called "analysts" are just spin-artists.

Kras data are extremely important since Kras-status will identify cancer patients who will greatly benefit from using EGFr drugs specifically Erbitux from ImClone.

Erbitux is a very expensive drug but it offers to select head & neck, lung and colorectal cancer patients substantial survival benefits, improved quality of life, and for some patients cancer-free survival and even a cure.

Knowing the Kras-status, physicians will be very much eager offering Erbitux to patients who will DEFINITELY benefit from it. This will establish Erbitux as a standard of care for these patients.

This will make Erbitux a mega-blockbuster. Note that Erbitux's worldwide sale is already over $1.5B.

Will M&A Activity Boost PowerShares Dynamic Biotech & Genome ETF? [view article]
I agree that there will be continued play in the sector given the desperation of the majors to develop their own drugs internally to offset the massive patent expirations occurring over the next few years.

Interestingly, there's a pretty strong seasonality to the biotech sector and we're still in the trough. Generally such trends are spotted quickly and evaporate due to efficient markets within a couple years, but this one's still in place it seems (I had used BBH as my proxy due to longer tenure, but trade with XBI due to better representation of the sector and less reliance on AMGN, DNA).

The sector outperforms big time in the late fall/winter on a pretty routine basis:

I don't know the company, but it sure looks interesting. Technically, it would be nice to hold 1.75. The company is seemingly deficient in cash - it would appear that there will be either an equity or debt offering this year. If they become profitable as forecast this year, the stock could get some attention - diagnostics have been hot. Reply
