Google Extends Its Web Search Lead [view article]
Google is the king of the hill identical to Microsoft DOS. If GOOG cannot branch into other areas, they will eventually be spoken of in the same tense as MS-DOS. This will take the unimaginable to happen, but unimaginable is what the future is.Reply

When does the Deptartment of Justice look into questions of monopoly? What market share does GOOG need to have to prompt an investigation? 65 %....no. 75%...closer! 80%...very close. 85% or more...yes!Personally, I think Google search has earned every percentage of market share they receive.
But search still funds all other Google operations because they can't make profits on anything else. Reply

We have an options affliction.Options were to be use where a company is young and does not have the wherewithal to compensate its employees with regular pay.
The options concept is that the employee stands a good chance to make more if, as a team, the company propers.
E.g., A company only has enough to offer $8,000 per month to a prospective employee, who is requesting $12,000 per month.
A mature company that has the wherewithal to pay its employees the going rate should not issue options.
The issuance of options to employees is, in effect, stealing from the ownership (stockholders) by diluting the stock.
Who lost out when a secretary made $10,000,000 on Google stock options?
The shareholders...., of course.

No he isn't. You could just as well interpret it to mean that Applestock will outperform Google by 300% over the next 5 years too.
Otherwise, the market must be full of "bargains". Good luck! Reply

Dear author,What you are indirectly suggesting is "Apple employees and investors, cash out on your Apple stocks now at their highs, quit Apple and go work for Google while their stock is at a bargain!" Reply

Way to look at the futures to mention your plays. Futures up I am long GOOG. Oil down I am short SU. SU was a double down to breakeven . ReplyGoogle Wins the Verizon Wireless Sweepstakes [view article]
I echo User138602's request.I like both of VZ and GOOG but I want to buy one. VZ ofcourse is more complex to address because of its combination of fixed line business as well as wireless business - however may have lot better valuation compared to GOOG. Reply

If This Comes True, You'll Be Glad You Own Gold & Silver [view article]
Fiat currencies (i.e. US$, yuan, yen, euros etc.) and Precious metals (gold, silver, platinum, palladium etc) are COMPETING ASSET CLASSES.Government LOVE fiat currencies, as they can INFLATE AWAY THEIR DEBT OBLIGATIONS. This is highly inflationary, potentially hyper-inflationary.
IF YOU ARE A **** NON-GOVERNMENT ENTITY*****, YOU SHOULD START ACCUMULATING PRECIOUS METALS BY [DOLLAR COST AVERAGING INTO THE ASSET CLASS] EVERY TIME IT CORRECTS!!!
Keep sufficient cash for dad to day living. Get out of debt.
PROTECT YOUR FAMILY!!!
THE GOVERNMENT DO NOT HAVE YOUR BEST INTEREST IN MIND. THEY JUST WANT TO BE RE-ELECTED, AND WILL CONTINUE TO PROMISE YOU WHAT THEY DON'T HAVE. TO PAY FOR WHAT THEY DON'T HAVE, THEY MERELY PRINT MORE MONEY.

With you on the SOX rally. AMD looking great here, especially if it can bust through $6. Dirt cheap calls, too; this stock seems to be running under the radar here. I had some SEP 5 calls move up 250% for me in just a couple weeks. BTW, I don't know if he's reversed himself, but Cramer did call for a fall tech rally a week or so ago. I rarely watch him but did see him make the case for a strong seasonal rally here. Words to the effect of "You buy techs in the fall when business looks horrible and sell them in the spring when business looks great." ReplyApple & Google: A Detailed Comparison [view article]
Brewer, thanks for placing the history into context..IF you do want to compare Apple and Google, compare their market share of the their relevant markets and see where they can go..
FCF comparison is meaningful.. but for growth companies, market share is what matters and I feel Apple has much more headroom. Reply
